If you like the contemporary or modern look, but
prefer a more muted effect, zinc countertops may
be a good solution for you. A polished Zinc surface
is best suited for this style. Zinc with a matte
or distressed finish can be employed into a
rustic styled kitchen because of its more organic
looking characteristics. This is due the unusual
softness of this eccentric metal. Despite its tender
qualities, Zinc is not porous and won't harbor
bacteria. Due to its malleable characteristics, you can enjoy certain features with zinc countertops that you can't with others, such as integrated sinks.

Consider This

Just like steel, Zinc is prone to scratches but these are readily fixed by fading in with gentle wet sanding using fine grit sanding pad. Always make sure to use a cutting board.

Zinc countertops may tarnish over time, however, this can be controlled with regular applications of Beeswax.

Unlike steel countertops, which can hold up to high temperatures and are used in professional kitchens, zinc countertops perform poorly when in contact with heat. Use pot holders and mitts.

Don't use acidic cleaners on zinc countertops, just use soap and water.
