They're great as cabinets, so why not try them for
countertop surfaces? Wood offers a beautifully
natural and stylish countertop solution. You can
find the same materials for wood cabinets as
countertop equivalents. This includes, maple,
cherry, oak, walnut and mahogany, among others.
Wood cabinets have deep, warm hues that add
depth and substance to any kitchen.

Unlike stone countertops, which are cut from slabs, wood countertops are formed from individual pieces of wood that are glued together. However, just like stone countertops, wood countertops are polished on the surface for a fine finish. Wood countertops are not as widely available as stone countertops so a more thorough search will be required. Fabricators that do provide wood countertops will be able to provide various options for backsplashes and edges.

Consider This

Some wood types change color or dull with age. Special oils and polishes will help maintain it's original sheen.

Repairing a wood countertop is relatively easy since it involves sanding and oiling the surface.

Wood surfaces are porous, which means they can both stain and harbor bacteria. However, regular oiling, maintenance and cleaning will aid in prevention.
