Porcelain sinks (or cast-iron sinks) have been around for over a
century and can be readily identified by their stark white color.
With its trademark smooth finish, porcelain kitchen sinks are
widely considered by designers as a piece of Americana.
This sink type was used extensively during the turn of the 20th
century.

Porcelain is made from a ceramic compound, which is liberally
applied over a cast iron sink to create a silky finish over its
rough undersurface. Its hard, white surface becomes quite slick and glistens when wet. Much of this has to do with the enamel component found in the compound.
